Product Review: Alegro Dreamweaver

Hello Ladies,

A wonderful sales rep for Alegro Lingerie offered to send me a sample of the gorgeous Dreamweaver Plunge bra in Misty Grey a few weeks ago, and I’ve finally had a chance to write a proper review:

Sizing & Fit:  Their fit specialist sent me a 30H, and the band is perfect!  Alegro makes a firmer band than Freya which feels secure and comfortable around the body.  However, the H cup was a little small, and I think I would need a HH cup for the bra to fit perfectly without any overflow.

Dreamweaver’s silhouette reminds me of the Curvy Kate Emily, and I was not surprised to learn that at one time Alegro manufactured Curvy Kate because the fit of both bras is similar.  With an open neckline and slightly lower center gore, Dreamweaver is not quite a plunge bra in my cup size, but it offers lower coverage than similar styles.  The lift and shaping are on par with Curvy Kate, but I found the underwires did not extend as far back on my sides—a refreshing change of pace—although the center gore was still a little wider than my close set breasts need.

Followers of the blog will remember that I often struggle with how Curvy Kate bras dig into the sides of my arms, but the Dreamweaver feels somewhat lower.  However, the cup size is also smaller than my Curvy Kate bras, so it is possible that the correct cup size may create the issues I’ve experienced in the past.  Of course, if you have great luck with Curvy Kate, consider Alegro as yet another option!

Materials:  In a word?  Luxurious!  The mesh fabric on the lower and upper cups is decadently soft and caresses the skin without chafing or irritating while the super soft wings of the bra provide a lot of control, smoothing, and comfort.  Three hook-and-eye closures in the back feel secure and provide added support while the embroidery on the cups and straps is top quality and looks like it will withstand wear well.

Design:  The beauty is in the details with this bra.  First, the silvery color is a nice alternative to your standard beige or white bras and seems complementary to a range of skin tones.  However, the ornate embroidery along the top and lower cups really elevates the design above basic into something frilly, feminine, and glamorous!

The Dreamweaver transcends the ordinary with its intricate floral-inspired embroidery on the strap as well as thoughtful finishing touches like roses and bows on the straps and center gore.  Even the basic components like the partially-adjustable straps and top band on the wing are made from a shiny fabric which stays functional while adding an extra element of visual interest.

Overall Grade:  A

It’s insane how much this looks like a Curvy Kate bra.

A lovely review, as always. Not too many Alegro reviews out there. What cup range does this bra have?

    • Erica Erica says:

Doesn’t it though? It feels and fits a lot like Curvy Kate as well, so this could be a fantastic option for some women. The Dreamweaver boasts an impressive size range of UK 30-46 C-J; however, given that it fits similarly to CK, I’d say it’s more like 30-46 B-HH which still isn’t bad!

  2. Ooh nice to read your review of Alegro! I tried Alegro out for the first time in June so you might be interested to read my review of the Dreamweaver also!

    Kitty xo

Thanks for linking to your review, Kitty! I totally agree that you should go with your Curvy Kate Emily or Portia size for the Dreamweaver! I’d love to hear more feedback on some of their other styles like the padded plunges or 3/4 balcony cups. The materials on this style alone are worth recommending them!

      • No prob – glad to see that you agree size wise :) I’d be interested to try more of their styles in future..I’ll have to try and get hold of some as they’re not thaaat readily available yet unfortunately x

I like the bra great detail on it. It looks like it fits perfect on you and the material sits perfect around the breast. Would it be too sheer?

    • Erica Erica says:

The detail is gorgeous, Michelle! I don’t think it’s too sheer, but the cups are a little small. I get some overflow toward the center, but I think a HH cup would be perfect!

    What a beautiful bra!
