This month has been very exciting for us between getting the Curvy Kate and Goddess lines and now receiving the Fantasie Vivienne fashion bra! As part of our commitment to providing you with up-to-date information about the store, I want to start reviewing the bras we carry, so today I am going to give you my thoughts on the Vivienne Set:
Sizing: Since the Vivienne does not come in a 30H, I tried the 32G, which I found to fit true-to-size compared to the brand’s other offerings. However, the lace is a little stiffer, which doesn’t allow for much give. If you find yourself between two cup sizes often, I would err on the side of caution and buy the larger one.
Fit: The Vivienne in our store is a balconnet style (there’s also a plunge version) that fits a bit higher on the sides and center gore, but not in an uncomfortable way. In fact, the bra provides great lift and separation, and the support does not seem like it would be compromised after a long day of wear. Furthermore, the band feels like it gives good anchorage, and I like how the straps have less stretch. To me, the Vivienne makes for a great “dressed-up” version of an every day workhorse bra in terms of how it fits and the support it offers.
Materials: Sometimes it is very easy for all-over lace bras to cross into the dreaded “itchy” territory, especially after a long day, but the Vivienne combats this problem by using a soft, satin simplex fabric to line the interior of the cup. The mesh and embroidery on the top of the cup aren’t too bad either, and I didn’t notice any chafing issues while I moved around. Plus, the powernet mesh wings really keep everything in place and supported.
Design: The Vivienne bra, which is a little pricier at $72, easily looks like it could have come from Eveden’s upscale Fauve line. The satin lining and main embroidery are done in a deep, seductive blackberry color that manages to be both rich and sensual while the black lace overlay creates a feminine and luxurious touch. Then, there’s the embroidery. You really need to see the bra in person to appreciate how intricate the design is and how impressive it looks. Words can’t do it justice!
The Short: In addition to the bra, we’re selling the matching shorts at the store, and I love the short! (Yes, it was necessary to emphasize “love!”) They are shaped to look a little like the vintage tap pants, and the material is so silky and smooth. Not to mention, the front of the short utilizes all the same great details and design choices of the bra so the set truly works well together.
Other Comments: I can easily see this being a great holiday or Valentine’s day gift set because it’s sexy enough for play but supportive and comfortable enough for work.
Final Grade: A
