Summer/Fall Fashion Preview: Elomi

Hello Ladies,

When we first started carrying Elomi in the store, my initial impression was “Nice, not thrilling but nice.”  The brand played it safe with an array of basics and crowd-pleasing color choices and prints.  Flash forward to Fall 2013, and Elomi is a horse of a different color—several colors, in fact, and all of them gorgeous.  Elomi is offering sophisticated choices, gorgeous color combinations, and a healthy dose of fun with their new collection, including two babydoll options and a waist cincher.  The basics are still there, of course, but Elomi continues to improve them by listening to customer feedback and creating improved versions and better options.

With so many gorgeous contenders, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but two collections stand above the rest in my eyes:  the Maria and the Imogen.  Maria boasts an impressive size range, and to my knowledge, is the only strapless bra to use spacer fabric.  Couple that with the decadent details on the strapless basque, and you are left with a recipe for luxurious sophistication previously reserved for sister lines Fantasie and Fauve.  Beautiful black and gold details aside, the Imogen stands out for the inclusion of the Waspie Waist Cincher.  Worn with either bra style, the cincher lets you simulate the look of a basque, but on days when you can’t face the compression, you can still enjoy the bra.  I hope the cincher is something we’ll see in future collections for Fantasie and Freya too, especially given the wallet-friendly price of $48.00!

I think Elomi’s new stepped-up sophistication is awesome. The babydolls have been a big hit with my friends I’ve been fitting, and the waist cincher is straight-up glamorous. I’m so impressed by how adventurous they’re being without sacrificing style or fit!

Agreed! Those babydolls are just so cute, and I am crossing my fingers and toes that Fantasie and Freya add a waist cincher to their collections too.

Elomi is awesome. They really keep making gorgeous and flattering styles for full-busted/full-figured women. I love it.

Agreed! So many of my fuller-figure customers feel ostracized from other retailers and are upset that they can’t find anything pretty in their size. Elomi really steps up to the plate and hits a homerun in this arena!

I love ALL of these! But I agree that the Imogen and Maria are the most appealing to me. I need a strapless bra and at 38H there aren’t many. And I LOVE the waist cincher design. I’m also loving all the bright and contrasting colors!

I’m so excited about the Maria because I think the spacer fabric will really help with making sure the design contours to a variety of breast shapes. It’s so exciting to see how much the brand has changed!

I really wanted to think of something sophisticated (hey!) to say in response to the preview, but the most eloquent thoughts I had while looking were “hnnnnng want want want aw that isn’t quite in my size want want want”. It was graceful, really.
I’m excited about the Izzy bra and babydoll, myself. The Abi was the first well-fitting and comfortable bra I ever got, so something similar is kind of exciting. Plus, it’s just cute by itself!

Samantha, grace can be overrated! Izzy is a super cute set, and I love the purple colors. Abi is definitely a great bra, and I’m excited for the newer version they’re debuting in May. I believe it’s called the Eva, and it will streamline the design a bit so it blends easier under clothes.

Oh, you’re right about the Eva. (I may have gone back and checked the Winter/Spring preview you posted. ;)) It’s good that I can get an Abi-esque bra without the embroidery, because it really was problematic for teeshirts. (Plus, I think the lighter “biscotti” color will be better for my particular skin tone under thinner shirts.) And then, the Izzy can be the fun-colored option! Excitement.

Ohh, lots of things here I’m definitely look forward!
Namely the strapless basque and the babydoll!
Wish the Imogen Basque came in a bit bigger range, I’ve been spying the “underwear for outerwear” trend, and I could see that look cute under a blazer!

That basque really is a show-stopper! Just to clarify though, the Imogen is not actually a basque but is rather a bra and waist cincher combo. There are two bras to choose from (a padded half cup and a side support bra based on the Rita/Libby/Sakura frame), and then you have an optional waist cincher. To me, this is a genius idea because some women would only want to wear the longer line of a basque/cincher at certain times, but they can still wear the bra part whenever they’d like. Furthermore, the waist cincher is pretty enough on its own that you could easily pair it with you standard black lingerie too or, as you mentioned, wear it as part of the lingerie as outerwear trend!

I really like the Betty and the Jocelyn, especially since I have been looking for more plunge options in a larger cup size. I wish the Betty was also available in a white/beige with its July release date.

It would be great if they offer the Betty in a lighter color! The black with white polka dots and pink trim is adorable, but with summer on the way, a more weather friendly option would be perfect.

So Many to like! I love the new Betty colour and the Imogen looks good too. I wonder if the AMelia is a new and improved version of the Hermione? I just wisj ELomi would broaden their size range! I am right on the cusp of them fitting or not. 🙁

Michelle, the Amelia is indeed an improved version of the Hermione. As I understand it, the wings of and sides of the Amelia will be a little firmer than the Hermione for added support and hold.

Just received my Black Amelia! I so wish that this and the Madison would come in 36J (you heard about Elomi response to my argument regarding cup volume). Since my re migration has pretty much sized me out of 36HH I ordered the 38HH and can only hope the 3 hook Rixie Clip is ready before this expensive bra is relegated to aTV watching bra.

I would agree with Elomi that the fit is “firmer” than the Hermione. It is comfortably tight on the middle hook and the side lace panels are of a slightly different design and seem to have a bit more of a forward push. The first thing I noticed was a different(for the better) shape. Not quite as east/west and a bit more uplifted (Jasmine it is not).

Amelia does seem like somewhat of a fit improvement over the Hermione but let’s be honest… with the total lack of similar bras in my size range, even with the shape flaws this feels like heaven. Only wish they would realize that if they can make a 38HH they can make my darn 36J.

Jcup Jedi, what about using the ribbon method to tighten the bands of the 38s? It’s not a Rixie clip, but the method, as I understand it, does not actually impact the underwire shape. Instead, it limits the stretching capabilities of the band more and might save the 38HHs from being relegated to “at home” wear only.

From what I’ve seen on special orders, the Amelia is indeed a better fit; however, I am sad to see them discontinuing the fawn color of the Hermione in favor or a standard beige. I feel like the fawn was a nice, nearly universally flattering lighter color option that even felt a bit pretty. Same thing with the charcoal and dark colors. Oh well, at least the bra fit is improved, albeit at a higher cost!

Thanks for the suggestion Erica. I have been wearing the Amelia all day for the first time today and I am happy to report that the shape under a plain t-shirt is MUCH improved from the Hermione. My boobs are actually pointing “frontish” and have less of that teardrop shape. The gore and wire width are fine on the 38HH so I’ll just have to be careful to keep this in a reasonable rotation (not pull it out every day because it fits so well) and I should be good for a few months before I have to tighten band.

That turquoise Betty is amazing! I’m so upset I’ll have to wait until September for the Rita in red – I just tried it in white and now I’m in love and need more. I should probably try the Renee since it’s based on the same frame. My only wish is that they did everything in a 34 band!

Holly, the Renees is even more gorgeous in person! The floral print is somewhat muted and watercolor-esque so the print feels sophisticated and fun. I wish they would offer more in the 34 band as well because their designs are top notch. The Rita frame is actually used for a lot of their styles, so if you enjoy the fit, you have plenty of other styles from which to choose!
