Several months ago, after my success with the Freya Faye, I decided to buy the Freya Pollyanna in white. Why white you ask? To be honest, I was sick to death of beige bras after having worn them exclusively for several years, but I needed something light colored. White seemed like a nice compromise, especially because the Pollyanna had this innocently sexy design that felt appropriate in a small French boutique. In my mind, it was neutral enough for my light-colored shirts, but fun enough to keep me from feeling bored to tears.
While I still feel the same about the bra’s fit, lift, and shaping, I’m not as in love as I thought I would be with the bra’s color. The white is beautiful, and it actually flatters my pale skin. However, I feel like I’m running into the same problem that we all run into at some point with white anything—it’s a headache to keep it clean. After wearing it under a cotton navy dress, the fabric turned an inconsistent shade of blue that required bleaching and prompted me to never wear the bra under anything other than light-colored clothing.
This weekend as I was doing my weekly lingerie wash, I noticed that I again had some color transfer onto the bra, and worse yet, the dark blue jeans I had on had left the matching shorts looking streaky. Quelle horreur for my French-inspired set! Another bleaching session later, and the color still isn’t quite perfect.
From a logical and rational perspective, I know that it is not the fault of the bra that my clothes inexplicably want to dye it blue . . . or red or . . . you get the idea. Nevertheless, I find myself frustrated since my black and even purple bras do not have the same issue. I also find myself wondering what exactly I thought was going to happen with a white bra, and why I thought it was a good idea to buy one. Do you have any bra or clothing purchases that make you feel the same way? For all the white bra lovers out there, how do you keep yours clean and looking fresh?
